succubus is a character of legend. Demons in the form of a woman to seduce a man in his sleep and dreams, succubi are Lilith and mode of action for the seduction of men. Their male counterpart is the incubus.
Legends tell that the succubus would look like a dead wife and, thinking the resurrection of this one, mates with his beloved. Another said that succubi punish men for their treachery in the charming and then abandoning them.
